Nigerian fried rice, shredded beef sauce, jollof rice, vegetable curried rice, were a few of the meals prepared as part of  the Regent Kitchen competition, which took place at the forecourt of the McCarthy Hill Campus, on the 24th of March, 2016.

The competition was organised by students of the event management class, a hands-on course offered by the School of Business and Leadership.

The event management class was provided the opportunity to apply best practices learned over the course of the semester, in organizing and coordinating the event.

In all, 10 participants drawn from the various SBL departments took part in the Regent Kitchen competition. Participants were tasked with preparing and presenting a culinary project.

Heated battle:

At the end of the competition, the verdict of the judges was given. Judges comprised of Regent faculty and a professional caterer.

The management department team emerged as the overall winners in the competition. The team members were Rita Aryee and Mavis Oku.

Matilda Nkrumah and Joel Quansah (accounting department) came in second place.

Jemima Sackey and Allen Tay (management) came in third place.

“The competition was exciting. Students got the chance to gain experience planning, organising and managing an actual event”, said Ruth Fletcher-Ntumy, lecturer for the Event Management Class.

“The event was great”, said Matilda, whose team came in second place. “The planning and execution was spot on”
